Whenever I hear someone talk about Branson, one of the first things that comes to my mind is Silver Dollar City. SDC is one of Branson’s most iconic attractions and people come from all over the country to experience this one of a kind theme park. There is no where else in the country where you can walk through a underground cave, ride the world’s best roller coaster and listen to some good old fashioned music all in the same place.
Silver Dollar City is open from March through December and with six different festivals throughout the year, it’s always a good time to visit. Currently SDC is in it’s Star-Spangled Summer theme which features exciting shows, over 30 rides and attractions and from June-Aug you can catch some of your favorite characters at the Carousel Barn.
Earlier I mentioned that Silver Dollar City was a place where you could ride the world’s best roller coaster and I wasn’t just exaggerating. In 2013 The Outlaw run was voted the world’s best roller coaster. Outlaw Run® features the world’s first and only double barrel roll on a wood coaster, with a 720-degree (double) barrel roll. Outlaw Run® is the world’s steepest wood coaster with a first drop of 162 feet (more than 16 stories) at 81 degrees. It’s also the second fastest wood coaster in the world, reaching a top speed of 68 miles per hour.
Bottom line, it’s AWESOME!
If your not much into thrill rides, don’t worry there is so much more do to at the park. For instance if you’re feeling a little adventurous you could take one of the many tours down through Marvel Cave. This tour will take around an hour and it’s a great place to learn the history of the park and to cool down from the heat.
Shows are one of the things that Branson is famous for and Silver Dollar City certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to this area. You will find country music, gospel music and even a wacky science show great for kids. There is even a spot where kids can try there hand at milking a cow.
I also want to mention how amazing the food is at Silver Dollar City! You will find a ton of homemade items like the huge made from scratch cinnamon rolls at the Bakery.
We had a fantastic time at the parks, we always do! What I like about Silver Dollar City is that there is something for everyone, whether your 8 or 88, you’re going to have a great time. I will also mention that Christmas is one of my favorite times to visit the park. SDC goes above and beyond to create this magical place that is perfect to get you and your family in the holiday spirit.
So now to the exciting part. There is a HUGE announcement about Silver Dollar City coming on August 13th! I am not sure all of the details just yet but I know that it’s going to be really big. I will be keeping you guys updated on the news so be sure to check back.
